My match band seems too low
Symptom
An application shows a lower match band than you expected.
What to check
- Open Match Analysis and read the six-dimension breakdown.
- Check whether required skills are missing, direct, or related.
- Open skill evidence and confirm the right activities are linked.
- Check salary alignment, location, work type, values, and availability.
- Answer any hirer questions if the Role Opening includes them.
- Improve the underlying profile or application evidence, then recalculate if the page offers that action.
Biggest levers
The strongest changes are usually accurate skill evidence, specific STAR activities, salary alignment, and complete answers to hirer questions. Once a band is already strong, focus on accuracy and evidence rather than trying to push a hidden score higher.
What you cannot change
You cannot make a role fit if the role requirements, salary, work type, or work rights genuinely do not line up. A lower band can be useful information before you spend time applying.
