Resume upload fails or won't process

Symptom

Your resume upload fails, keeps processing, or RoleSage says it could not reliably read the resume.

Likely causes

  • The file is not a supported resume document.
  • The PDF is scanned as images rather than text.
  • The file is password-protected.
  • The file is too large for the upload flow.
  • The document layout is hard to extract, such as heavy tables or multiple columns.

Fix steps

  1. Upload a text-based PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, MD, or supported Google Docs shortcut.
  2. If the file is a scanned PDF, export or recreate it as a text-based PDF or DOCX.
  3. If the document is password-protected, save an unlocked copy and upload that copy.
  4. If the upload still fails, paste the resume text into the input box instead.
  5. Wait for the extraction status panel to finish. You should see profile sections being prepared, then land on your dashboard or review queue.

Google Docs shortcuts

A .gdoc file is only a pointer to Google Docs. RoleSage can import it only when Google allows the document to export as DOCX without a sign-in wall. If Google blocks the export, download the document as DOCX or PDF and upload that file.
